Landscape

The main habitat of the Nyerere (Selous) is the Savannah.

The landscape is mainly characterised by the Rufiji River. This flows through the park and empties into the Indian Ocean. Its water nourishes many lakes, which is essential for the survival of plants and animals. The Rufiji is one of the largest rivers in Africa, with palm-fringed channels and marshy islands. Only here can visitors combine wildlife viewing in jeeps, boat trips and excursions. The area around Lake Tagalala is one of the most beautiful places in the entire park.
