The Mgahinga Gorilla is a National Park in Uganda in the provinces of Western Region. The park was established on 01.01.1991 and covers an area of 0.034 km². The Mgahinga Gorilla offers the possibility of self-drive safaris.

Mgahinga borders the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and the southern part of the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The park is about 15 road kilometres south of the town of Kisoro and about 55 road kilometres west of Kabale. It is an alternative destination to Bwindi for mountain gorilla trekking. Other attractions include treks to the tops of three of the park's volcanic peaks and golden monkey trekking. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in the Virunga Mountains and includes three inactive volcanoes, namely Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga and Mount Sabyinyo.

The main habitat of the Mgahinga Gorilla is the Rainforest.

Mgahinga is the smallest park in Uganda. The entire park is at high altitude and the views are breathtaking. The most striking feature of the landscape are the volcanic cones of the extinct volcanoes in the mountain range. The slopes of the extinct volcanoes are covered with dense forest.

The climate in Mgahinga Gorilla is cool, wet. The rainy season takes place from Beginning September to End November The dry season first extended over the months from Beginning June to End August inclusive. The best time to tour is Beginning June End August.

The high altitude of the park makes it one of the coldest destinations in the country. It averages 20°C during the day and gets quite cold in the evening at around 9°C. There is no real dry season in Mgahinga, so rain is always possible, but there tends to be less rainfall in December to January, while June and July receive the least amount of rain. There are two recognisable rainy seasons: from February to May and from September to November. It is advisable to pack decent walking shoes and waterproof clothing.
