Landscape

The main habitat of the Makgadikgadi Pans is the Grassland savannah.

With its vast salt flats, it forms an impressive, surreal landscape and offers a variety of habitats. The majority of the area consists of the largest contiguous salt pans in the world, as well as Kalahari grasslands on sand dunes. The Boteti River has a beautiful floodplain forest on its banks. After the rainy season, the desolate landscape turns into a green paradise and the new grass attracts thousands of animals and flocks of pelicans and flamingos.
