The Liwonde is a National Park in Malawi in the provinces of Southern. The park was established on 01.01.1973 and covers an area of 0.58 km². The Liwonde is a Big Five reserve and offers the possibility of self-drive safaris.
The national park offers real wilderness. The Shire River is one of Africa's great waterways and boat trips are highly recommended. The river is home to large populations of hippos and crocodiles, and elephants can be found along its banks.
