The Lake Mburo is a National Park in Uganda in the provinces of Western Region. The park was established on 01.01.1982 and covers an area of 0.37 km². The Lake Mburo offers the possibility of self-drive safaris.

Lake Mburo National Park is located 30 km east of Mbarara and about 240 km west of Kampala. This scenic little park is home to several species of wildlife that are difficult to see elsewhere in Uganda. It is the smallest national park in Uganda. The park was named after the largest of the five lakes, Lake Mburo.

Lake Mburo National Park is located 30 km east of Mbarara and about 240 km west of Kampala. This scenic little park is home to several species of wildlife that are difficult to see elsewhere in Uganda. It is the smallest national park in Uganda. The park was named after the largest of the five lakes, Lake Mburo.

Landscape

The main habitat of the Lake Mburo is the Savannah.

The savannah is interspersed with patches of forest and rocks. Papyrus swamp and forest areas surround the lakes. The main feature of the park is Lake Mburo and four other lakes that are part of a 50 km long wetland. Directly bordering the park is the grazing land of the Hima herders, whose long-horned Ankole cattle graze together with the wild antelope and zebra.

The climate in Lake Mburo is mild. The rainy season takes place from Beginning September to End November The dry season first extended over the months from Beginning June to End August inclusive. The best time to tour is Beginning June End August.

Temperatures average 27°C during the day and 14°C at night. Rain occurs throughout the year - although June and July get the least amount of rain. The months of December to February also tend to have little rain. There are two recognisable rainy seasons, from March to May and from September to November.
