The Bwindi Impenetrable is a National Park in Uganda in the provinces of Western Region. The park was established on 01.01.1991 and covers an area of 0.321 km². The Bwindi Impenetrable offers the possibility of self-drive safaris.

The park is located in south-western Uganda and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. It is the best place in Uganda to observe mountain gorillas. The park protects about 40% of the world's mountain gorilla population and has several habituated groups. The forest is also a birdwatcher's paradise with 350 recorded species.

Landscape

The main habitat of the Bwindi Impenetrable is the Rainforest.

The vegetation in the national park consists of dense mountain and rain forests with impenetrable undergrowth with very high biological diversity. This is why the forest complex was given the name Impenetrable Forest. Several swamp areas are located in the forest, which is divided by numerous streams.

The climate in Bwindi Impenetrable is mild. The rainy season takes place from Beginning September to End November The dry season first extended over the months from Beginning June to End August inclusive. The best time to tour is Beginning June End August.

Due to the short distance to the equator, temperatures remain constant all year round. Daytime temperatures of around 23°C are common, with a significant drop at night to around 11°C. It rains a lot in Bwindi, except from June to July. Rainfall is highest from March to May and October to November. Waterproof clothing and walking shoes are essential.
