The Buffalo Springs is a Nature Reserve in Kenya in the provinces of Isiolo. The park was established on 01.01.1948 and covers an area of 0.165 km². The Buffalo Springs offers the possibility of self-drive safaris.

The park is located 85 km north of Mount Kenya, south of the Ewaso Ngiro River and about 112 km from Nairobi. Together with its northern partner reserve Samburu, Buffalo Springs forms an ecological unit. It offers good wildlife viewing of most major safari animals and is particularly known for its excellent leopard sightings.

Landscape

The main habitat of the Buffalo Springs is the Grassland savannah.

Besides dry scrubland and open grasslands, a narrow gallery forest grows along the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, which flows through the reserve. Doum palms and acacias grow along the Ewaso Ngiro River. Contrasting habitats of riverine forest along the watercourse and dry acacia scrub with termite mounds define the vegetation of the park.
