Arabuko Sokoke is located on Kenya's coast, 110 km north of Mombasa and protects the largest remaining piece of coastal forest in East Africa. The reserve is mainly a bird watching destination and several bird species can be seen here. The forest is a good place to spend a few hours - and a welcome refuge from the coastal heat - but large safari animals are not seen here.

The ecosystem consists of three types of forest: Mixed forest, miombo forest and cynometra (tropical forest), each of which harbours different animal species. There are several forest-fringed ponds with water lilies along the trails, as well as some viewpoints over the canopy.
