The Aberdare is a National Park in Kenya in the provinces of Central District. The park was established on 01.01.1950 and covers an area of 0.765 km². The Aberdare is a Big Five reserve and offers the possibility of self-drive safaris.

The national park is located about 100 km north of Nairobi in the highlands of central Kenya at an altitude of up to 3999 m above sea level. It protects the mountain range of the same name. Wildlife viewing from tree hotels is a remarkably rewarding way to see animals that are otherwise difficult to spot in the dense vegetation because of the elevated position. Safari tours must be guided. Special attractions of the park are the Karuru, Gura, Chania and Magura waterfalls.

Aberdare is a scenically diverse area with different zones at different altitudes. The tree hotels are located in a beautiful forest landscape. At higher altitudes there are bamboo forests and afro-alpine moorland between steep ridges with beautiful waterfalls and river valleys. Besides the high altitude moorland, there is scrubland and mountain forest.
