Tsumkwe Country Lodge

Tsumkwe Otjozondjupa Region, 1501, Grootfontein 1501

About Tsumkwe Country Lodge

Tsumkwe is situated less than 60 km west of Dobe border post to Botswana, and 256 km east of Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region. This small village town is the administrative hub for approximately 600 inhabitants and the rest of the population makes up +/- 3 500 inhabitants living in smaller villages on the periphery of Tsumkwe.

Nyae Nyae Conservancy; meaning 'place without mountains, but rocky' was registered in 1998 with a view to conserve and protect this fragile area. It covers a protected area of 1 million hectares of unspoiled wilderness in the far East part of Namibia that borders Botswana.
In proximity to the Nyae Nyae Pans and Khaudom National Park, Tsumkwe Country Lodge is an ideal adventurous starting point to reach the Zambezi (Caprivi) Region as well as Botswana via the Dobe border post to experience the famous Okavango-Delta. Tsumkwe is still a wilderness paradise, off the beaten track!

We came across this lodge by accident, the village looks small and one might even not expect to find anything remotely accommodating or secure. But then you come across a sign bit old that says country lodge, tired of driving from Botswana decided to give it a go. If we at least find a spot to park our camper and rest. To our surprise this small oasis shows up. And the welcoming was amazing, instead of taking camping spot we got a room. Perfect! Clean and cold water / shower under this abrasive heat! The owners fantastic people and the duty Manager Izzy made our stay more than comforting! I dare you, anyone to give them a shot you will be incredibly surprised. Also there is couple nice secrets there that make this place heavenly in the middle of the dry, hot and nothingness ( but isn’t nothing there? You better check by yourself!) Thanks once more to the Tsumkwe Country Lodge team and owners!!!

We had a wonderful stay here. Camped in a 4x4 but had our own lovely little private bathroom, huge space for car and our own lawn for our table and chairs. The grounds are really pretty and the the team were so lovely and helpful. We’re veggie and they quickly whipped us up a tasty chickpea curry. Perfect location for a Dobe border crossing!

I stayed at the Tsumkwe Country Lodge for a long duration camping and it feels like leaving home. Warm staff, good food, lovely owners and very well maintained. Campsite is great and the four resident dogs are a plus. It is pet friendly also.

We had the most incredible evening there! You know what? We drove all the way from a Bushman village to them in a thunderstorm, to watch the grand final Rugby world cup game!!! As they have the one and only TV in almost 100 square km area!!! Lol. How wonderful is that? And South Africa Springboks won!!! 1 score, as I expected!!! Hahaha. By the way, many thanks for the super delicious food and chill beers! Will never forget that evening.

Horrible experience We booked campsite in advance but when we arrived in place the owner told us there is no place in campsite and we must take a room- the price was 5 time more expensive and it's the only camping in the area. The food in restaurant was very expensive - the price for vegetarian meal (rice and chickpeas) was the same as a meal with meat

Very nice camping spot with perfectly clean ablution facilities. The dinner was excellent and the service absolutely great. Prices were very reasonable!
