About River Crossing Lodge

“Feel the pulse of the city from the heart of the bush-veld”
River Crossing Lodge is situated on the airport road (B6) and only 5 minutes from the heart of Windhoek. The lodge sits on top of a koppie on a pristine 6500 hectare reserve, offering unparalleled sunset views. The main lodge building comprises a dining room, a centrally situated bar, a lounge with fireplace, and curio corner. Nestled outside between the lounge and dining area is the lap pool and elevated wooden deck that stretches out under the sun. At center stage, in full view of the main deck stand the Moltkeblick Mountain in contrast to the blanket of flickering city lights of Windhoek.

Stunning location, spacious and comfortable bungalows located on the slops of steepy hils, overlooking pristine bush. Excellent food, well stocked bar, friendly staff. And everything just mere 10 minutes drive from Klein Windhoek.

Room was not cleaned once during my stay. Breakfast so basic with no variety. The only nice thing was the view.

Attending a wedding at River Crossing Lodge was an experience filled with mixed emotions. The venue itself exudes charm and offers a picturesque setting for celebrations, which undoubtedly added to the special ambiance of the event. However, the otherwise lovely atmosphere was marred by an unfortunate encounter with an extremely rude lady behind the bar. Her demeanor was off-putting and detracted from the overall enjoyment of the occasion. Additionally, it was disappointing to find that there weren't enough wine glasses available to adequately serve all the guests, which created unnecessary inconvenience. Another aspect that fell short of expectations was the choice of snacks provided. The steak roulade offered was not only overly large for a snack but also disappointingly chewy, making it difficult to enjoy as intended. While the venue itself holds promise for memorable events, these instances of poor service and mismatched offerings detracted from what could have been a flawless experience. Hopefully, these issues can be addressed in the future to ensure that all guests can fully enjoy the festivities without any unnecessary hiccups.

We recently held our wedding at River Crossing and were left quite disappointed by the experience, leading us to not recommend it for events like weddings. Here are the reasons: 1. Unprofessional Communication: We were informed at 9 PM the night before our wedding that the lodge was fully booked, which forced a last-minute change in our setup. This type of critical information should be communicated well in advance to allow for proper planning. 2. Poor Service: Despite being a small group of 25, the service was disorganized. Some guests had not yet received their appetizers while others were already on to dessert, even though all orders were placed simultaneously. 3. Inattentive Staff: The staff were not readily available, necessitating frequent trips to inquire about our orders—a major inconvenience during what was supposed to be a seamless event. 4. Lack of Instructions for Staff: The staff were unclear about details such as the juice served with the canapés, which should have been clearly instructed by the management. 5. Food Quality: While the canapés were well-received, the main courses were inconsistent. The chicken received compliments for its quality, but the fish was undercooked, the crème brûlée was not properly set, and the panna cotta had a floury texture. The lodge fell short of the basic standards we expected. The poor management and service have significantly marred our wedding memories, making it difficult for us to endorse River Crossing for any similar events.

My sister's wedding was hosted at River Crossing. The staff was super friendly, exceptionally helpful and the rooms were very clean. The chef did a great job with Italian style buffet. I would recommend this lodge to anyone who woyld like to host an event, get away for a weekend or who is visting Namibia.
