First be aware that the lodge is NOT IN THE KRUGER PARK. Instead it is right at the border and going to the Kruger will cost you extra. The view from the lodge is definitely fantastic, overlooking the crocodile river. Rooms are basic, the food buffet has little choice and the quality is not here. For the price you would expect more. The service is quite dramatic. Has many other review mentioned the staff is not really helpful and you have the feeling of bothering them when asking for something. We saw 3 out of the 5 “big 5”, stayed 4 days .. Conclusion: great view, decent lodge but too expensive in consideration of the rooms, food and service. And be ready to pay extra to see the big cats !

Our safari experience was amazing! We saw 4 of the big five and had really close views of the wildlife. Our driver did a great job. It is worth noting that the safari does not take place in Kruger National Park but that didn't affect our experience. We loved staying at the lodge, the view across the river was incredible. All staff apart from one on reception were helpful and friendly. The food was fine but nothing special.

*Please note that this review is for the restaurant at Mjejane River Lodge, not the resort itself. We ordered off the menu, this was not the hotel buffet. To be frank, we received some of the worst service I've ever experienced. Rude, slow waiters. An ambivalent manager. It was as if we were very unwelcome indeed. The food was average and expensive. The location is the only pro. A big no for the rest 👎🏻

Went there in June for a family trip. Had to change rooms cause they were not OK. The sheets were just not clean, humidity all over the walls, and the airco dropping water on the electrical outlets?? There were many staff all around the place, but stuff didn't feel organised. Most of the time you just saw them waiting because they were too much. The place sells itself as part of Kruger Parc, but it isn't. The safaris are outside and quite limited. We did see many animals tho which was wonderful. Our guide was funny, but it felt like he didn't want to put out too much effort. We received a few explanations on the first ride, then it was like he felt quiet. We had to ask ourselves a lot to get a little info. And we had to insist to make him use the radio and check with others if they found big 5's. Globally, the place looks nice, but it lacks fundamental renovations. Staff very nice, but helpless. Would not recommend if your hesitating.

The place has an amazing view of the river. It has a nice pool, the safari and park are amazing and has most of the animals you would expect (except leopard that are very hard to find). BUT It is not worth it's 4 star hotel, even tho they say it's in the Kruger, they are outside the Kruger park and u need to pay a supplement to go inside... Our guide was lacking some essential fundamentals... He did not communicate with the other guides (ex: not a lot of use of the radio or planning of Safari's). Another example is that we had to stop him for animals otherwise he would just ride past: even elephants. He wasn't much of a talker, if we didn't ask questions he wouldn't give us more information. He had a lot of knowledge on trees, birds or big games we saw and showed a book with details. But we had to ask for it every time. Our rooms were dirty and we had to change (rust in bathroom, moisture stain, filthy sheets and small holes in towels) Even though the place has a lot of potential it needs a full refreshment of the rooms... Most of the staff was kind but the place lacks management, ex: the duty manager was also a cook, the staff eating during service, removing the buffet before the ending hour, saying yes to everything but nothing done, and so on... Still the place is lovely but needs some improvements !

Mjejane River Lodge has the best possible view with hippos and crocs lazing about in the river in front of you, the game drives are great with lots of animals sightings, it never disappoints, the food is spectacular and tastes amazing, the rooms are lovely and neat and the beds are good quality, Mjejane is a must visit and we'll gladly go again, thank you to all the staff for making us feel welcome and at home!

We came back from Kruger from a morning drive and decided to go to Mjejane River Lodge Restaurant for lunch The four of us decided to have toasted sandwiches for lunch as we knew we were limited with time as we wanted to head back to Kruger for the mid afternoon We got our milkshakes shortly after ordering them by around 12:00. The waiter then took our order for the four toasted sandwiches (ham, cheese and tomato and 1x chicken mayo). By 12:50 we called our waiter to ask him where our sandwiches were as we were limited with time and it took them 40 minutes and we still sitting without any food. The waiter advised that they are preparing for lunch buffet first and then they will get onto our toasted sandwiches. By this time I was fuming as we are paying guests and there was only one other table occupied in the Restaurant area I asked the waiter what makes the other guests that are coming for buffet food better than us? If I had known that this was going to be the situation I would definitely not have come to Mjejane River Lodge Restaurant. The waiter then advised he will go check and see how far they are and then come back to let us know, another staff member came and said he is sorry for the delay and they are preparing our food and will take 5 minutes max (we advised to please put our food now into a takeaway box), so we timed it and waited and waited and waited and so it goes on. I got up and asked for the manager to tell him about the issues we having just getting something simple as a sandwich, this alone took another 10 minutes just to look for the manager I advised the waiter to cancel the order and that we are going as this is just unexceptionable service. The waiter advised they are almost done with the meal and will bring it out now, I paid the bill and waited for the food and manager. At 13:15 we finally got the toasted sandwiches of which the order was not correct, chips had paprika on them for one of my guests and he advised when ordering to keep chips plain as he is highly allergic to paprika. The other sandwich was meant to have a side salad with it but came with chips and literally like 5 chips in the takeaway box. I had 3 international guests from the UK with me on holiday and this is the type of service we received at Mjejane River Lodge Restaurant I will definitely not return to Mjejane River Lodge again after receiving this type of appalling service, so anyone else who even thinks of going there for a quick meal consider it to be a waiting game for sure. Extremely poor service

For the best family holiday in South Africa, this is where you need to go, there are also 3-4 bedroom time share homes and fully equipped private houses to rent at Mjejane. So various options depending on your budget. It is really a trip of a life time and they keen improving the area each time we come back. The game drives they provide are amazing and better than going into the Kruger itself. The evening ones are our favourite. Keep up the great work you all do, hopefully see you next year again!!
