I’m so conflicted about this lodge but my honest review goes as follows: The events side of things was not great. They double booked us and gave us the side of the area that was really subpar. We paid the same money, if anything, we had more quests and made our reservation way in advance. So how did they decide who was more deserving and why didn’t they communicate that they were already booked for our dates if that was the case? Even though they tried to convince us otherwise, we got the short end of the stick. They were then so inflexible with moving us. We asked if we could use the restaurant area and were told it was reserved for hotel guests. We counted only 2 of those guests the entire evening so they could have moved us to the main area but they simply did not want to. The chef (Brad) had a chip on his shoulder, absolutely refused to see us despite more than 5 attempts. Too busy for the people bringing you 50/60 guests? We wanted to discuss the numbers and charter a way forward. I found his responses (or lack thereof) quite surprising. So if you want to have an event there, make sure you’re not double-booked and shoved to some random corner. Also the kitchen is small so the food took forever and some of our guests ended up leaving after having their starters. I really wish the event side of things lived up to the hype. Otherwise this lodge is very beautiful with an astonishing ambience. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 9 days in January. It is immaculately clean, lovely rooms, great service, superb security and friendly, efficient staff. The star of the hotel is a real treasure of a lady, the manager Suzanne. We've traveled a lot and have come across some great hospitality professionals but no-one like this lady. We were there under trying times for our family due to a severe health issue and Suzanne could not have been more thoughtful, helpful, friendly and supportive. She went out of her way to help even being on 24 hour call over the weekend on her personal time off. I cannot praise this lady highly enough and I hope that the owners of the hotel realize how awesome she is. Great hotel, great service, fabulous staff and the best manager. Highly recommended.
