Hornbill Lodge and Legends Restaurant

Went there for lunch on a Monday afternoon and we were the only people there. We had a welcoming committee of the resident dogs. We counted 5. The restaurant has a deck overlooking the river and it’s a scenic and peaceful spot to have lunch. Had one of the legends milkshakes along with their rib burger specials. The milkshake came with a lot of decorations as you can see but wasn’t overly sweet as I thought. An adult can enjoy them too in my opinion. The rib burgers were quite delicious and for R 55 each offer great value. Service was good as we were the only ones there. Will go back for a hike later

Milkshakes received was nothing like advertised. Super expensive for a plain Milkshake at R65 - no cotton candy, no suckers - then you get the excuse that the machine is broken - a machine does not make suckers, marshmallows or suryp ect. Place looks delapitated was broken furniture. Would not recommend! If I could give minus stars I would!

We booked the entire lodge for a team building event on 07th June'24. The service we received from Cobie and the team were brilliant. They accommodated all our requests which made it a memorable experience for all of us. The hike was very informative. A big thanks to Cobie and the team, we will definitely see you again!

The venue is rustic. Beautiful trees and river provided a relaxing venue to enjoy our lunch. I had the grilled chicken salad which was fresh and tasty. My husband had the rib burger which he enjoyed. We saw milkshakes going to another table which looked good. Cappuccino was disappointing. Would have been better to just offer us plunger coffee.

What a lovely place to visit, the area is peaceful with the Magalies River running though it. I loved to sit next.to the river as we had our lunch but unfortunately the food was cold when we eventually got it.. I had to remind my waiter who forgot my drink order, so the service is not so great. The food was tasty but they need to step up the staff training and the kitchen needs to learn how to keep food warm. Cold food is not appetizing at all.

Our experience was amazing, Cobie was very friendly when we made the booking. It is very peaceful and green. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and James our waiter was very friendly. The food was delicious, we had a rib burger and the farmer's breakfast. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much to the team for such an amazing stay and for allowing us to check out late :)

Wow what a stunning place. Service was great. They set up a nice table for us near the river, with an amazimg view. The food was great. Loved the milkshakes. It was a great experience.

Absolutely stunning location, Tye food is incredible I highly recommend the super burger! Wonderful people, the hospitality they provide is also really brilliant. Would recommend visiting Hornbill Lodge to anyone, from a group of friends to a family get away, and from time to time you get to see a hornbill out your bedroom window! There’s an awesome pool for both adults and kids, and if you’re the type to be adventurous there’s an amazing rock pool on the property. Thank you to the awesome hosts at hornbill lodge! Had a really awesome time.
