Hakunamatata Lodge And Health Spa

I am not one to write bad reviews but thiw was a horrible experience and for the price one has to pay you would expect MUCH BETTER. 1. Poor Maintenance - the property looks like there has not been life for months. The grass is long, the garden... What garden.. Very poorly managed 2. The only waiter there was for the weekend had no interest in his job and skelm as well.. We ordered 2 waters and a ice tea and he felt the need to add an additonal R12 for him to the bill .... ??? 3. The rooms and bedding were shocking... I felt dirty sleeping there.. You could smell the dust on everything. 4. The service ... Gosh... Shocking. We were told that breakfast would be ready by 8... We got there 20min earlier to have some coffee while we wait... NOTHING was open. Restaurant, reception, EVERYTHING was closed. 8:10, the waiter rocks up like he ia on time .. We eventually asked the garden service if he could find out what was going on. One of the kitchen staff then came out and said.. Oh no sorry there is no buffet you must order... So another 20min to wait.. We ordered. Coffee was not nice, the scones we got was rock hard.. Old.. The food was just not up to standard for what you pay.. 5. The restaurant and other areas were very dirty. You could just smell dust... I would seriously reconsider booking here.. As it was the worst experience i have ever had .... Music was played till late that night ..

I see all these wonderful reviews for the Lodge... but I have been trying since last week to get a hold of them to view their venue for our wedding. No response to online contact forum, no reply to emails, and both numbers listed on their website goes straight to voicemail. Are they no longer hosting events? Terrible service either way.

We enjoyed every single moment! The staff is super friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and the massage even better. Our room was super clean and comfy. They really go the extra mile. A special thanks to Memory who ensured our stay was just perfect!

We really enjoyed our honeymoon at Hakuna Matata with excellent service, wonderful food and great spa treatments. Will definitely be back. Linda at reception was wonderful and made sure all our needs were more than met. Gilbert was an awesome bartender and waiter and made our experience even more fantastic.

I stayed over there from 30 August - 1st September. And it was my birthday on the 31st. I had a lovely weekend and the ladies made a wonderful setup where my better half proposed. The food is great , the staff is so friendly. Service is outstanding

It was a memorable birthday celebration this weekend and I would recommend this Lodge anytime. The food was so good from the starters to the mains , It was delicious and prepared perfectly by the chef . Well done Guinevere and Gilbert. Absolutely world class service. Keep up the good work. # 100%

Amazing facilities, amazing food. I think they have the best waffles in Johannesburg!

We enjoyed a night out at this lovely resort, very clean, neat and stylish. The spa bath in our room, however, did not work. We wasted a lot of water for nothing. Institutions need to ensure that if they advertise Vegan options on their menu, that their chefs actually KNOW HOW TO PREPARE GOOD VEGAN FOOD. The meal that was served to us was atrocious. The menu offered a Vegan chickpea and coconut cream curry; we were served a vile tomato and onion gravy loaded with garlic and curry. Fortunately, the owner was there and prepared a much better tasting dish. The breakfast experience was bland and unwelcoming and their one waiter was not nearly enough to look after all guests. I truly hope to see some progress in the near future as institutions in the hospitality industry gain more insight and respect into Veganism.
